First image of LG G3 with redesigned rear buttons leak

Details about LG's upcoming 2014 flagship LG G3 smartphone have been leaking at a very fast rate. The first image of the smartphone has just leaked.

When LG launched the LG G2 last year, the company introduced what appeared to be a very strange button arrangement. LG designed the G2 to be a very thin smartphone, so instead of placing the power and volume buttons on the side of the G2, LG chose to place them on the back of the smartphone. LG believes that by moving the buttons to the rear, you actually have more control using the smartphone since your fingers naturally rest in that position while being held.

We're reportedly getting close to LG officially announcing the LG G3 and we practically know everything there is to know about the company's 2014 flagship smartphone.

There is one piece of the puzzle that has remained under lock and key, but that has just changed, as the first image of the LG G3 has made it way to the web.

GSM Arena received the first shot of what is reportedly the LG G3. The image is the typical dark and blurry variety and it only reveals the smartphone's rear. LG has redesigned the rear buttons with round shapes compared to the LG G2's rear buttons.

The publication claims there is some kind of sensor located next to the rear camera on the LG G3. It was believed the sensor was a second LED flash, but the image reveals this is no longer the case.

So far we know the LG G3 with be one of the first smartphones to ship with an Ultra HD display that will have a resolution of 1440 x 2560. The display will receive a bump in size from the G2's 5.2-inch display to a 5.5-inch on the G3. The handset is expected to be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM. Its camera capabilities are believed to include a 16-megapixel rear shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 2.4-megapixel front facing camera.

The LG G3 is expected to include 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB miscroSD cards. The smartphone will run Android 4.4.2 out of the box and a new version of LG's Optimus UI, we recently reported on. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any new information regarding the LG G3.
