'Destiny: The Taken King' PlayStation Exclusive Content Includes A Strike, New Weapons And Armor

Destiny's third expansion pack, The Taken King, is going to be biggest yet — with new subclasses, enemies, environments, strikes and, of course, new exotic gear up for grabs. The expansion is coming September 15, and along with it, a batch of PlayStation exclusive content.

Yes, just as with The Dark Below and House of Wolves, Destiny players on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 will have even more content to enjoy and gear to acquire.

PlayStation gamers can embark on the Vex infested "Echo Chamber" strike as well as play on an exclusive medium-sized Crucible map called "Sector 618." The map is set on an abandoned ruin reclaimed from the House of Wolves and will feature narrow corridors which give way to an open central area.

This wouldn't be Destiny without some new loot, and PlayStation owners will be getting some exclusives there as well. An exotic Scout Rifle by the name of the Jade Rabbit will be up for grabs, as will an exclusive set of armor for each class. You can read more about each set on the official Destiny website.

All this content is technically a "timed exclusive," as Destiny's website states that the PlayStation exclusives will come to Xbox platforms in the fall of 2016 — a whole year later. Considering there will likely be a number of additional Destiny expansions released before Fall 2016, it seems safe to assume most Xbox Destiny players won't even care at that point.

Destiny: The Taken King will release on September 15 for $39.99. The game will also get a collector's edition that includes Destiny, the game's two previous expansions, The Taken King. There will also be a whole batch of other goodies, like a steel book case, replica Strange Coin, a journal and a number of in-game items. Destiny: The Taken King Collector's Edition will be retailing for $79.99.
