For many, House of Wolves is another reason to dive back into Destiny. The game's second expansion has a lot going for it: despite the lack of a proper Raid, Bungie has introduced two new modes for both cooperative and competitive players, as well as a new Social Space, several new quests and a ton of new loot. The Dark Below may have disappointed some, but it's clear that Bungie is trying to fix those mistakes with House of Wolves.
Destiny's competitive community has already begun to master the game's new tactical versus mode, the Trials of Osiris. Whereas most Destiny matches are five-on-five affairs with respawns and crazy rules, the Trials of Osiris is a far more thoughtful game.
With three players teams, a two-minute time limit and harsh penalties for death, the Trials are something that Destiny players have wanted for a long time...but that's not the only reason fans are playing it.
As with all of the game's other modes, doing well in the Trials will net you better loot. However, if you finish the Trials with a perfect record, you're treated to something else entirely...
The Lighthouse, a Social Space on Mercury, is available only to those to exit the Trials of Osiris with a perfect 9-0 record, as reported by Kotaku. Even a single loss will lock the Lighthouse away - but, for those who manage a perfect run, the rewards are definitely worth it.
Some of the game's most powerful gear is locked away inside the Lighthouse, and there's a chance that players can nab the best loot the Trials have to offer. Of course, this is Destiny - you won't be able to nab it all at once. Players who make it to the Lighthouse will get plenty of loot, that's for sure, but you'll need to make return trips if you want to grab everything the secret area has to offer.
Also, it's gorgeous - making the trip is worth it for the view alone.
What's even more amazing is that players have already found a secret area within the secret area: by ignoring the glowing chest full of loot, players can find a small passageway off to the side. Following this short path leads to a cave full of...corpses. Well, at least it's a cool secret.
Hopefully, Bungie continues to throw in this sort of reward as Destiny continues to evolve. They don't all have to be social spaces, of course, but rewarding players like this is something that few games do. Say what you will about Destiny, but one thing is clear: Bungie loves their fans.
