'Game Of Thrones' Season 5 Finale: This Is How Twitter Reacted

And now the end has come and, as it seems, episode 10 of Game of Thrones season 5 is the most gripping of them all thus far.

This week's final episode has indeed left viewers and fans in a state of disbelief with the many deaths and reckonings that occurred. Many were not totally prepared to deal with it and sought social media, such as Twitter, to express themselves.

If you haven't seen the latest episode titled "Mother's Mercy," just be warned, I will have no mercy with SPOILERS.

What is all the fuss about? The episode starts in Stannis' camp after the horrific sacrificial burning of his daughter. The Lord of Light seems to be pleased with the sacrifice as the snow and ice melt, allowing the army to move forward to Winterfell, but most of his men leave during the night, unable to accept what he has done to his daughter. To add to his sorrow, Stannis finds his wife's body hanging in the woods outside their camp. And the sacrifice is all for naught as his men are still slaughtered when they attack Bolton.

Stannis finally falls at the hands of Brienne as she confronts him regarding the assassination of Renly and he finally admits his responsibility for his brother's death. While all of this is happening, Theon snaps back to his senses and out of his pre-programmed Reek persona to finally help Sansa escape the torturous Bolton compound.

Though we are happy that Sansa can now go and find her siblings and live a happier existence, Arya on the other hand learns the hard way what happens when you derail from your assignment as an assassin and servant of the Many-Faced God. As punishment for committing an unauthorized killing, Arya is blinded by Jaqen when she returns to the House of Black and White.

On its end, the Lannister clan experiences heartache as Myrcella, while having an open and honest conversation with her father Jamie, spurts blood out of her nose. It turns out Ellaria has poisoned Myrcella with a deadly kiss before the father and daughter set sail. It looks like Ellaria will get her revenge after all.

As all of this is taking place, Cersei takes the plunge and atones for her crimes via the walk of shame through the town stark naked. The once high and mighty queen regent is reduced to shambles as her golden hair is cut off and she is stripped of all clothing and endures walking the streets back to her home while being taunted, jeered at and humiliated by the smallfolk as they throw food and mud at her.

The show is kind enough to give us a bit of break from all the shocking happenings when we see Drogon with Daenerys returning to the land of the Dothraki and surrounded by a mass of horsemen.

But though we have gotten used to characters dying and being killed off the series, nothing prepares many for the death of Jon Snow. Yes, Jon Snow is dead. In a chilling scene where the brothers of the Night's Watch betray and stab the ruling Lord Commander due to their fears of having the wildlings become part of their community inside the Wall.

It is an utter shock to witness the young Olly delivering the final and fatal blow to Jon as an act of seeming closure and revenge for the death of his family in the hands of Wildlings. The episode ends with Jon lying in a pool of his blood looking up at the sky. Many hope that it is not the end of Jon Snow but with the lack of any indication of his return for season 6, fans will just have to come to terms with the fact that this was Jon Snow's last hoorah.
