Rejoice, Dishonored fans. Your prayers have been heard — and answered.
Very few details were given for Dishonored 2, but we can tell you one thing for certain: It's real, and it's coming.
Announced on stage at Bethesda Softworks' first-ever E3 event, Dishonored 2 is being made by Arkane Studios, the same developer that crafted the first game. In it, an "otherworldly usurper" threatens the world, and an assassin must rise to take him down. It's set in a brand new setting within the Empire of the Isles.
The next-gen title was showcased with a pre-rendered CGI trailer (below) that revealed a few nuggets of information. Chief among them: a new, female protagonist who's playable alongside Corvo, the main character from the first game. You can choose to play as Corvo, or this new assassin, whose name happens to be Emily.
That's right: this time out, you can play as a grown-up Emily Kaldwin, who appeared in the first game as the kidnapped princess that Corvo set out to rescue (and who may have been his daughter). It's a pretty cool idea to find her years later now working as Corvo's protégé. And she appears to be every bit as lethal as he is. She even showed off some unique new abilities that were quite different than Corvo's, including a blink-like grappler line power that shot her across great distances lightning fast.
No release date was given for the game, but the developers promised to show off more of it as soon as they're able to. Dishonored 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
