A small and blurry image of the upcoming third generation of Motorola's flagship smartphone, the Moto X 2015, is spreading on Twitter. Interestingly, even though the posted picture by Twitter leaker @upleaks is not clear, it fits the latest Moto X 2015 shell photo posted by HellomotoHK on Facebook.
HellomotoHK explained that an earlier photo of a chassis with a space for a fingerprint scanning module showed an older engineering prototype. Based on the blurry image posted by @upleaks, the Moto X 2015 will indeed lack the rumored fingerprint scanner. Instead, it appears that the upcoming smartphone will feature dual front-facing stereo speakers, as one can spot two speaker grilles.
The back shows the rear camera lens with a dimple below which is normally seen stamped with the Motorola logo. The LED flash positioning seems to be different compared to the Moto X 2014. The front display also appears to show the notification system on the lock screen that is probably part of Motorola's Active Display feature.
Motorola's Moto X 2015, which was reportedly codenamed XT1542 on a leaked specs sheet, has long been rumored as well to be powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The display will have a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, and the phone will be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Booting the latest Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box, the Moto X 2015 will also reportedly come in two variants: one with a screen size of 5.2 inches and a bigger variant to be 5.64 to 5.7 inches and sporting a USB Type-C port.
The video below features a leak about the Moto X 2015 software saying that the smartphone will be coming with a Moto Wear app that can support non-Android-based wearable hardware. It will also reportedly have a camera app that boasts of manual controls and slow motion effects that could be on par or better than LG G4's.
Interestingly, according to the video's source, though there will indeed be two screen variants. The 5.2-inch will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 SoC while the 5.7-inch will feature a Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood and with 3 GB of RAM. No specific launch date has been announced, but rumors say it will be released as early as August.
Motorola is silent about these rumors and there are no official pictures or announcements just yet, so hold on as nothing has been confirmed but be sure to check the updates that are sure to come.
