Netflix Expands Services To Italy, Portugal, And Spain In October

Netflix, the on-demand Internet media streaming service, revealed that it will expand its services to Italy, Portugal and Spain in October this year.

Netflix is available in many European countries such as Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and more. In separate press releases, the company recently announced plans to expand Netflix services to three new European markets.

Netflix is available in over 50 countries across the world. As part of its international expansion plan, Netflix wants to offer services in more than 200 markets in the next two years. The company had a subscriber base of 62 million by the end of March this year and 41 million subscribers are from the U.S.

Netflix brings a wide variety of TV programs, movies and more on-demand via an Internet connection to the TV screen. At the launch of the service in Italy, Spain and Portugal, Netflix will include original series such as Marvel's Daredevil, Bloodline, Sense8, Grace and Frankie, Marco Polo and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Many commended documentaries such as Mission Blue, Virunga and more will also be available at launch. The service will also include comedy programs and a selection of programs for young kids.

Netflix will be fully localized and also offer subtitles and dubbing for viewers in Italy, Spain and Portugal. It will also offer new titles on a regular basis.

The company's press release also revealed details of some of the shows that are expected to be launched later this year.

"Among the shows scheduled for launch later this year are Netflix Original series Narcos, telling the story of the drug trade and Pablo Escobar's cartel, and Club de Cuervos, a comedy around a family feud after the owner of a professional soccer team dies," stated a Netflix press release.

Netflix also said that Marvel's Jessica Jones, which is the second of the four Marvel series exclusively available on Netflix, will also be launched later this year.

The online media streaming service suggests that customers in these new markets will be offered one-month free trial to get a feel of the service. At launch, the service will be available on computers, smartphones, tablets, smart TV and Internet capable gaming console.

Netflix has not revealed the prices for its services in Italy, Spain and Portugal. Full details of prices, programs and compatible devices will be revealed at a later date.
