Are you a Minecraft player who also loves all things Fallout? Would you like to wander the wastelands of Fallout while playing Minecraft? Would you like to do that with a Pip Boy?
If you answered yes to all the above, we've got just the Minecraft mod for you, at least once it's finished. Project Wasteland seeks not to just let you play Minecraft in Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland, but also lets you do it with a working Pip Boy.
For those unfamiliar with the Pip Boy, it's a device that the main character in the Fallout games wears that not only tracks that character's health, but also provides maps and other helpful utilities. For the player, the Pip Boy also allows you to search through your inventory, take pills to improve health (especially if your character suffers from radiation poisoning) and even turns on a flashlight for wandering in dark places.
Project Wasteland hopes that it's version of the Pip Boy for Minecraft will allow players to use all its buttons as well as track their statistics and conditions. The wish list for the Minecraft Pip Boy's features include giving it a radio, have it store notes, include local and world maps and handle inventory. So pretty much, if all goes well, the Minecraft Pip Boy will work just like the Fallout version.
This announcement comes right on the heels of the announcement of a fourth game in the Fallout franchise: Fallout 4, which nearly broke the Internet for gamers earlier this week. That game's setting is in Boston and seems a lot more colorful and less dusty than previous versions of Fallout.
Project Wasteland also plans on featuring a few other familiar things from the Fallout game franchise, including Pack Brahmin and dogs.
Of course, there's no telling when the Project Wasteland mod sees release, but you can keep track of updates on the Minecraft Forum website.
