Fallout 4 is real, and it is already taking the Internet by storm. The game's official announcement trailer has already been viewed 7 million times. But while we now know the game exists and even what it looks like, we don't yet know a release date for the long awaited open world RPG.
One might assume the game to be coming sometime in 2016, but a Fallout 4 product listing on Gamestop Italy seems to indicate we might see the game much sooner, as it features an Oct. 23 release date. Various other retailers, like Amazon, have listed the game under 2015 placeholder dates, but the Gamestop Italy date is oddly specific.
Oct. 23 falls on a Friday this year. New games typically see release on Tuesdays, but it isn't unheard of for a game to release on a Friday, giving fans plenty of time to play their new game over the weekend. Nintendo, for example, releases all of their new video games on Fridays.
Fallout 4 publisher Bethesda will be holding its first ever E3 press conference on June 14, where no doubt a release window or exact date for Fallout 4 will be given. It doesn't seem too far-fetched to believe they may announce a fall 2015 release date. The game has been in development since at least 2011, following the release of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. That gives the developers a solid four years of time to work on Fallout 4, if it is indeed to be released this year.
Will it be 2015 or 2016? We will have an answer in just under two weeks at Bethesda's press conference. In the meantime, fans will continue to debate over every detail of the game we know so far. Whether it is the game's graphics or new Boston setting, expect Fallout 4 to be the talk of this year's E3.
