Samsung is biding its time with bringing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its flagship smartphones, which means the rumor mill is turning fast as Samsung fans and users figure out when the most stable version of Android Lollipop will come to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
Meanwhile, SamMobile says it has gotten hold of a leaked version of Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung flagships and has demonstrated in a video of what the latest update would be like for owners of the two smartphones.
SamMobile emphasizes that the version it has in its hands is a test build, which means there are likely going to be other features added in the final version of the update, and there might be some features available in the test build that will not be there when Samsung rolls out the final software build.
One of the interesting features we find is a manual exposure option for the camera, similar to what one finds on the iPhone 6, where users can choose a specific focus point and change the exposure just for that area. Interestingly, the video does not include support for shooting in RAW and lower ISO values, two camera features that are believed to be included in Android 5.1.1 for the new Galaxy phones.
For users outside the U.S., the update will also allow them to automatically arrange their apps in alphabetical order, an option that is now available to users in the American market. There is also the option to remove the S Finder and Quick Connect icons on the notifications bar, which is good for users who don't have enough use for these items and are annoyed by the fact that they can't get rid of them.
A couple more minor features include the new theme store button now featured prominently in a big purple box at the bottom of the themes app, and a Parallax effect that can be added to the homescreen to make it look like it is moving toward the user.
One feature that isn't currently available but is largely rumored to be included in Android 5.1.1 for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is support for multi-user mode, which allows users to create various accounts for different family members who can then set up their homescreen, apps and settings separate from other users' accounts.
Until Samsung officially rolls out the update, though, we can't be too sure about what is and what is not included in Android 5.1.1. SamMobile confirms earlier reports that Android 5.1.1 will come to the Samsung flagships in late June or early July.
