Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year. Samsung normally launches the flagship phone of the Galaxy Note series every September, and now a company official has indirectly confirmed the Galaxy Note 5 will in fact launch in September this year.
Companies such as Apple and Google have already entered the fast-growing mobile-payment market and Samsung does not want to be left behind. In early March 2015, Samsung announced that it will launch its mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, in July this year in the U.S. and in South Korea. However, the launch of Samsung Pay has been delayed to September this year.
On Wednesday, June 3, Samsung's executive VP Rhee In Jong revealed during an investor call that the company's mobile payment service will now launch in September along with Samsung's next high-end mobile device.
Samsung's next top-end smartphone is undoubtedly the Galaxy Note 5 and the Korean company has been silent about the launch of the handset. However, an indirect but accidental announcement from Samsung's executive VP will put the minds of many smartphones enthusiasts to rest that the company will in fact unveil the Galaxy Note 5 in September. Most probably, the phablet will be revealed at the IFA Berlin, which kicks on Sept. 4 this year.
Previously, there were speculations that the Galaxy Note 5 may launch earlier in July this year. However, a recent report highlighted that Samsung Electronics President Jong-Kyun Shin has confirmed that the company did not have any plans of launching the phablet earlier than September this year. The same report also suggests that the Galaxy Note 5 may come running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and not the next-generation Android M operating system.
The specifications of the Galaxy Note 5 remains unconfirmed but some rumors suggest that the phablet will sport a 6-inch 4K AMOLED display, which is bigger than the Galaxy Note 4 that had a 5.7-inch display.
The Galaxy Note 5 is also speculated to get an octa-core processor and ultra-high megapixel camera.
Previous handsets in the Galaxy Note smartphone series such as the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3 and more have attracted many customers. Samsung will have to pack in top-notch features so that the Galaxy Note 5 lives up to smartphone enthusiasts' expectations.
