Samsung will reportedly be releasing the Galaxy Note 5 phablet by the end of July, according to a report by WhoWired.
While most reports are claiming that Samsung will be revealing the Galaxy Note 5 in early September at the IFA technology trade event to be held in Berlin, Germany, the company is said to have accelerated the release plan for the device for the prototype of the Galaxy Note 5 to be completed by the middle of June.
By then, Samsung will look to confirm the final specifications of the device's prototype and will showcase the prototype to the company's clients, including telecommunications companies from all over the world. The companies could then pre-order units of the Galaxy Note 5 before the device's release to the market by the end of July.
The Galaxy Note devices of Samsung have traditionally been revealed on the day before the start of the IFA, with Samsung starting the practice in 2011. The IFA will begin this year on Sept. 4, which set expectations that the Galaxy Note 5 will be unveiled on Sept. 3.
However, Samsung's release schedule for the Galaxy Note 5 has been expedited by more than a month due to the development of the device which has been faster than the company has expected.
The Galaxy Note 5's earlier release date could also be seen as a strategy of Samsung to take advantage of the currently short time being experienced by premium smartphones in the spotlight. By unveiling and releasing the Galaxy Note 5 early, Samsung could be looking to ride upon the newfound popularity of its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones, to be able to fight back against the popularity of Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been released in October of last year, the smartphones have sold over 50 million units per quarter. The iPhone has also grown in size to compete in the big-screen device market, where Samsung used to dominate due to the Galaxy Note series of devices of the company.
Samsung Pay, the mobile payment system that Samsung is developing to combat the Apple Pay system of its rival, is also set to be launched by the end of July, which leads to expectations that the Galaxy Note 5 will support the feature.
There are also expectations that Samsung will be releasing the Gear A, the company's first round-faced smartwatch, alongside the Galaxy Note 5.
