The HTC One ME9, also known as the Hima Ace, is expected to come with a metal frame, a polycarbonate body and an impressive spec sheet that will confuse buyers more as they try to figure out which smartphone is the HTC flagship.
Twitter leaker @upleaks, known for his consistently accurate leaks, has posted the spec sheet for the One ME9, and it looks like HTC is trying to populate its product line with high-end smartphones running on the newest technology.
There are very few major differences between the One ME9 and the One M9+ that HTC has so far restricted to the Chinese market. Design-wise, the One M9+ has a more premium look and feel with an all-metal body, while the One ME9 cuts corners a bit by combining a metal frame and a polycarbonate body.
Aside from that, it is difficult to spot a lot of differences on both devices. The upcoming smartphone will run on a 2.2 GHz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795, the same processor running under the hood of the One M9+. It will run on the same 3 GB of RAM and will have 32 GB of built-in storage expandable to 128 GB via microSD slot.
Display is also similar, with both the old and the new sporting a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The rear camera also gets the same 20-megapixel camera that runs on the One M9+.
Users will also see a noticeable difference with the selfie-taking camera, which is a 13-megapixel front-facing shooter on the One ME9 as opposed to the smaller four-megapixel shooter on the One M9+, which gives potential customers the idea that the One ME9 is simply the One M9+ tweaked a bit for the selfie-loving crowd.
There is also a slight difference in the battery, with the One ME9 sporting a slightly bigger 2,900 mAh battery over the 2,840 mAh battery on the One M9+. Also found on both devices is a fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 4.1 and BoomSound with Dolby Sound.
While the One M9+ comes in gunmetal gray, silver gold and amber gold, HTC will offer more interesting color choices for the One ME9, namely classic rose gold, gold sepia and meteor gray.
Customers who are disappointed that HTC did not bring its One M9+ to the West won't be appeased to hear that the Chinese smartphone maker plans to sell the One ME9 to limited Asian markets, including India, Hong Kong and Taiwan. @upleaks says customers in America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa will not see the device being sold in their countries.
The One ME9 is expected to sell for 3,500 Chinese yen, which is equivalent to about $563.
