It's no secret that flagship devices from Apple and Samsung have always been competing against one another in areas such as graphics, camera quality, battery life, display quality, speed and others. Some have even conducted torture tests on the devices to see which among them have the strongest hardware specs that they are boasting about.
In a latest YouTube video, Adrian Isen tried to find out which among the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have the fastest speed by using an Internet speed test through Wi-Fi connectivity as opposed to a carrier Internet. Since all of the four devices are the current flagships of the biggest names in smartphones, everyone must have expected that the results would show minimal difference.
Isen performed the test two times with the second time using a different Wi-Fi network. In the video, he had all the four devices lined up on a table and had placed the Galaxy S6 Edge at the far left followed by the iPhone 6, the Galaxy S6 and finally the iPhone 6 Plus on the far right. Isen made sure that each phone had the right settings and on the same Wi-Fi network. He started to conduct the test from one device to another, making sure that he gets the result first from the device before proceeding to the next one that will be tested.
After the first round of testing, the Galaxy S6 Edge took the lead with download speed clocked at 185.67Mbps and upload speed at 169.18Mbps. It is followed by its sibling, the Galaxy S6, with download and upload speeds clocked at 154.11Mbps and 163.73Mbps respectively. The third spot went to the iPhone 6 Plus with download speed of 102.67Mbps and upload speed of 125.55Mbps. Not too far behind though is the iPhone 6 which ended up with download speed of 101.67Mbps and upload speed of 120.68Mbps.
For the second round, Isen used a different server for the speed test and once again made sure that the settings are correct. In terms of download speed, the iPhone 6 performed better and clocked speed at 117.11Mbps while its sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus, gained a speed result of 104.74Mbps. The second spot goes to the Galaxy S6 with speed clocked at 169.50Mbps while the Galaxy S6 Edge showed speed of 181.09Mbps. At this point, the Galaxy S6 Edge had once again dominated the speed test result.
It should be noted that these tests are just theoretical speed tests since there are indeed other factors that can affect one's browsing speed. Moreover, speed test results may not at all affect the consumers' choice in their devices. It only goes to show that while the iPhone had its record of top-performing test results, the Galaxy smartphones of Samsung had their own share as well.
