Congratulations to Odell Beckham Jr.
The dynamic New York Giants wide receiver edged New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in votes to land the cover of the Madden 2016 video game. Peep the image.
Though Beckham won the honor of being the cover subject for the hit video game, he lost to Gronk in a game of dirty "Can You Catch This?" filmed by ESPN. The rules of the game were simple: catch whatever is thrown to you with one hand... emphasis on WHATEVER.
With both stars dressed in disposable white painting coveralls, they were each thrown everything from super-inflated bouncy balls – maybe a not-so-subtle shot at Gronk's teammate Tom Brady and the Patriots for Deflategate – smoothies, meatball subs and egg cartons. No... you cannot make this stuff up.
You can see the disgust on Beckham's face, as a loose smoothie flies toward him and he fails to make the reception. Gronk was right at home, though, and made it. Beckham would however more than make up for his performance by catching the meatball sub and taking a huge bite out of it. Both stars caught the egg cartons, but Gronk cracked two of the eggs in the process. Exhibiting great finesse, Beckham kept the dozen eggs intact.
The game proceeded to get even crazier as the two had to catch blueberry pies. The game ended with Beckham underhanding a birthday cake to Gronk, who hauled it in with his giant hand – scratch that – paw. Gronk was declared the winner.
Fun little game.
