The 2015 NFL Draft got off and running Thursday night in Chicago, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tabbing Jameis Winston with the No. 1 pick.
The Tennessee Titans went with fellow star QB Marcus Mariota with the second overall selection, while the Jacksonville Jaguars made dominating outside linebacker Dante Fowler the third pick.
The NFL Draft's first-round results set social media ablaze with analysis, jokes and overall reaction. Here's some of the best comments made last night.
Jameis Winston didn't attend the NFL Draft in Chicago. He stayed back home in Alabama, turning his house into a draft-like experience with a red carpet and all.
When NFL commissioner Roger Goodell took the stage, the Chi-town crowd booed him.
Tampa Bay did some extensive research on Winston, before picking him. And we mean EXTENSIVE!
The Tennessee Titans had a trade offer from the Philadelphia Eagles, but they turned it down. You know Chip Kelly wanted Marcus Mariota badly.
Like Winston, Mariota stayed back at home in Hawaii.
When Goodell announced the Titans' pick of Mariota, he completely butchered his name.
Mariota will have to face J.J. Watt twice per season in the AFC South division.
Dante Fowler really wore these gold shoes with a white and red tuxedo.
Mel Kiper compared Amari Cooper to Jerry Rice. Really, Mel? That's a big statement.
Robert Griffin III should be happy about this...
Even the Jets couldn't mess the sixth pick up. An already strong defense just got that much stronger.
Jets couldn't mess that one up. Probably the best player in the draft falling right in their laps at 6. #LeonardWilliams — Max Bretos (@mbretosESPN) May 1, 2015
The Chicago Bears certainly found a way to replace Brandon Marshall. If only, Jay Cutler gets rookie wideout Kevin White the ball accurately.
Former Falcon great Jamal Anderson approved of the Falcons' pick. YES!!! Vic Beasley. Get physical and Do work young man, do work. #RiseUp — Jamal Anderson (@jamthedirtybird) May 1, 2015
Yes, Big Blue—protect Eli Manning, try to assert the run.
The St. Louis Rams got their man—running back Todd Gurley at No. 10, hoping he turns into their franchise rusher.
Quiet as kept...the Minnesota Vikings are quietly building a pretty sound secondary.
Good luck with the Cleveland Browns, Danny Shelton...
Andrus Peat fell in New Orleans' lap...and the Saints couldn't have been more happier about it.
The Chargers traded up to draft Melvin Gordon.
Now, the ironic thing of the Denver Broncos tabbing defensive end Shane Ray with the 23rd pick in the draft is he was just cited for marijuana possession on Monday. That and weed is legal in Colorado. While many think that could be an issue...the NFL overrides states' rules on marijuana use. So, if Ray were to ever dabble in marijuana again, he'd be in violation of the league's substance-abuse policy.
Many feel like the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots might have gottten the steal of the draft with hulking defensive tackle Malcom Brown.
