So far, The Flash has enjoyed a pretty memorable debut season. Few shows start at such a high quality, and even fewer manage to maintain it. Granted, there were a few episodes that weren't quite up to snuff (that Plastique episode...), but all things considered, the first year of The Flash has gone over extremely well.
That being said, there's still one episode left before the show's big season finale - and while the penultimate episode of a season can feel like nothing but filler, 'Rogue Air' looks like it'll be one of the most action-packed episodes yet.
The entirety of the show's first season has been building up to this one confrontation, and from the brief teasers that the CW and DC Comics have released, the fight looks like it'll live up to fans' expectations.
If you're worried that Barry facing off against a giant, genetically-enhanced gorilla was the best fight the show had up its sleeve, you're in for a surprise: after all, it's not just Barry vs. the Reverse-Flash, but Barry, Arrow and Firestorm against Reverse-Flash:
It'll be interesting to see how the CW handles the fight itself: Gorilla Grodd's big debut proved that the studio can handle effects-heavy action scenes, and the first season has been a showcase of one high-speed setpiece after another. Granted, with two super-fast fighters going at it, there's a chance that it could devolve into a mess of blurry CGI punches - with any luck, the network won't squander an entire season of build-up. After all, fans want a memorable fight.
The CW has done a great job of choreographing fight scenes so far - let's just hope that the most important fight of the season is also the best.
"Rogue Air," the penultimate episode of The Flash season one, will air Tuesday, May 12 on the CW.
