Kyrie Irving routinely comes up with herky-jerky moves that drop jaws. Not to mention NBA defenders.
But on Monday night during Game 1 of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Chicago Bulls' Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series, Irving reached into his bag of tricks and pulled out a highlight straight from the And 1 mixtape. The result — two Bulls' All-Stars winding up on ESPN's SportsCenter for all the wrong reasons.
With Jimmy Butler defending him, Irving crossed the Bulls shooting guard over, went up and around Pau Gasol, switched hands in midair and dropped this circus shot in. Seeing is believing. Go ahead and hit play on this. Bet you'll hit play again and again like we did.
As sick as that highlight was, the Cavaliers trailed the Bulls for the whole game, before Chicago came up with a 99-92 win behind Gasol's 21 points and 10 rebounds. It's going to be hard for Irving and LeBron James to overcome a solid and deep Bulls' squad without Kevin Love. We'll see how this series turns out.
In other playoff action Monday night, the Los Angeles Clippers were able to take Game 1 of their series against the Houston Rockets without Chris Paul. That's because Blake Griffin went wild, notching a triple-double of 26 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists in the Clippers' 117-101 victory. Big win! Take a look at Blake's dominant performance.
The Clippers definitely gained momentum from dethroning the defending champion San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night. They're going to be hard to stop now.
