Coming this summer is a movie in which dinosaurs return in the present and are unleashed upon an innocent public, only to be fought against by an elite group of hunters.
And also, there's Jurassic World.
The movie in question is called Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs, and here's the logline:
After an accidental explosion at a local mine, dinosaurs emerge from the rubble to terrorize a small western town. Now, a group of gunslingers must defend their home if anyone is going to survive in a battle of cowboys versus dinosaurs.
Somehow, production studio MarVista Entertainment — best known for making schmaltzy Hallmark Channel movies — even roped actor Eric Roberts into being in this thing. Wasn't he in The Dark Knight, one of the best genre films of the last decade? What is he doing slumming in this dreck?
Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is obviously being aimed at the Sharknado set, but come on. Even fans of laughably awful Syfy flicks must have standards. Some standards, at least? Microscopic ones?
Okay, maybe not. What's really frustrating is that there are genuinely talented writers, directors and actors out there who aren't getting work. And yet slush likes this somehow manages to get made.
You owe it to yourself as a human being to watch this trailer, share it with every single person you know, laugh at its absurdity, and then never let yourself or anyone you love near it.
Think of the children.
