What is more intense than Tom Hardy playing a London mobster? Tom Hardy playing two London mobsters. At the same time.
That's what he does in the upcoming film Legend, scheduled for release in the U.K. on Sept. 11. Hardy will be bringing the story of twin brothers Reggie and Ron Kray to life by playing both on the big screen. The film will take place in London during the 1950s and '60s, when the Kray brothers ruled organized crime in the city with an iron fist.
It's definitely fascinating to watch. Even though both characters are portrayed by Hardy, they have distinct differences. One wears glasses and has his hair slicked back, while the other looks like the Tom Hardy we are all more familiar with.
The trailer is short on dialogue, but it gives moviegoers a good idea of what to expect. Shocking violence. Romance. Drama. Plenty of iconic music from the time period. In other words, everything you would expect from a mobster film. Check it out below.
Legend is inspired by John Pearson's book Profession of Violence and is being directed by Oscar-winning writer Brian Helgeland, who previously wrote the screenplays for L.A. Confidential and Mystic River. The film currently doesn't have a U.S. release date, but Hardy fans can next see the actor in Mad Max: Fury Road, in theaters May 15.
