J.R. Smith can be wild and unpredictable at times.
Sunday during Game 4 of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Boston Celtics first-round playoff series was one of those times.
While boxing out and vying for a rebound, Smith recklessly swung his arm back and punched Celtics forward Jae Crowder in the face. Crowder hit the hardwood with a thud and had to be carried off the court with a sprained left knee ... making sure to let the Cavs' bench know what he thought of the dirty play while leaving.
Smith was hit with a flagrant-two foul and ejected from the game. The NBA could also wind up suspending him for a game during the Eastern Conference semifinals round.
The play came well after Celtics center Kelly Olynyk became entangled with Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love during the first quarter and Love ran off the court with a dislocated left shoulder. What is this, Wrestlemania? Cavs won, 101-93, to complete their four-game sweep up the Celtics. LeBron James had 27 points.
The Washington Wizards also completed their sweep of the Toronto Raptors with a 125-94 win Sunday. Afterwards, Paul Pierce took the time to troll Drake, who also serves as the Raptors' brand ambassador, via Instagram.
Sunday NBA playoff action also saw Chris Paul and Blake Griffin making sure that the Los Angeles Clippers knotted their series with the San Antonio Spurs at 2-2 via a 114-105 win. CP3 had 34 points and seven assists and Griffin added a monstrous 20 points and 19 rebounds. Watch their dominance below.
The Dallas Mavericks also avoided being swept with a 121-109 victory over the Houston Rockets. They still trail the series, 3-1. Amar'e Stoudemire jumped in the Hot Tub Time Machine with this post-up move and dunk.
