The moment Star Wars gamers have long awaited is here at last. The first trailer to show actual game footage from Star Wars: Battlefront has arrived, and it's a stunner.
Probably the most noticable thing about it is that aforementioned fact that it's comprised entirely of in-game footage. Because it doesn't look like in-game footage at all. These are movie-quality visuals, sound effects, explosions, gun fire, characters, environments... It's insane. DICE has built the game on its proprietary Frostbite engine, which it also uses for its own Battlefield series, and it looks like the team of developers has tweaked it out as far as current technology can possibly go.
If you're a Star Wars fan at all, it's sure to get your heart racing.
The trailer is mainly set on Endor, where a battle erupts between Rebel and Imperial forces. It quickly escalates from one big enemy to an even bigger one, until a very familiar face appears at the end, taking the battle to its farthest extreme. Then we get a series of jump-cuts that show off more environments, famous characters, favorite ships and more.
EA Games has just announced the release date for Star Wars: Battlefront as November 17, 2015. That's about a month before Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters.
Also just revealed at Star Wars Celebration is that the game will be playable in both first-person and third-person modes. It's expected that Battlefront will run on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
