For years now, the Call of Duty games have always been Xbox-first. That's not to say that the games are exclusive, but almost everything about them caters to the current Xbox console: the games are made with the console's hardware in mind, each title kicks off Microsoft's E3 press conference and - most importantly - each game's DLC hits the Xbox first. Even PC players get shut out: if you want Call of Duty DLC as soon as it's available, you better have an Xbox.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is no different: the 'Havoc' Map Pack was released for Xbox One owners in January 2015, while PlayStation 4 owners had to wait an extra month for the same content.
On top of that, the second map pack, 'Ascendance,' was released for Xbox owners back at the end of March - unfortunately, PC and PlayStation 4 owners have yet to play the game's second expansion.
Thankfully, that's about to change: the Ascendance Map Pack will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC players on April 30.
The map pack will contain four separate multiplayer maps, as well as a new Exo Zombies level and two new weapons. Perplex, Site 244, Climate and Chop Shop are the new player-versus-player arenas, while Infection joins Outbreak as the second Exo Zombies map. Finally, the AE4 and CEL-3 Cauterizer will be unlocked for standard multiplayer and Exo Zombies respectively.
For hardcore Call of Duty players, picking up the map pack is a no-brainer. However, at $15, those who aren't quite as invested should figure out if they really want to spend their money on more maps and a second Exo Zombies stage.
Then again...would wouldn't want to gun down zombies as John Malkovich?
Either way, players won't have to wait much longer for the DLC to hit: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's Ascendance DLC will debut on the PlayStation 4 and PC on April 30.
