Crank up the speakers, kiddies. You're in for a treat.
Square Enix and Game Informer are touting this video as the first trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. But at three and a half minutes of pre-rendered CGI action, it plays more like a short film. The trailer has its own storyline, and even features a motif of hero Adam Jensen backlit in a way evocative of angel wings.
Jensen himself would tell you he's anything but an angel. His fight may be just (or is it?), but his methods are brutal. And he holds himself responsible for the dangerous new political climate of the world.
In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the world has been split into two factions by the events of the last game: augmented humans and normal humans. Augmented humans have been stigmatized and oppressed, and they're fighting back — sometimes with terrorist tactics. That's where Adam Jensen comes in. As a newly established member of Interpol agency Task Force 29, Jensen has sworn to stop the augmented terrorists by any means necessary.
Ready? Here we go.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is coming for PS3, Xbox One and Windows PC. The release date has not yet been announced, but you can expect to hear plenty more about it in the days ahead —particularly when E3 kicks off in mid-June.
