WrestleMania is finally upon us, but fans have been trying to predict who will win and who will lose for a long time.
Rumors have been circulating for months now about who will come out on top, but the WWE has always been good at keeping its WrestleMania plans a secret.
While there are a few matches that have a more obvious outcome, most of this year's matches could go either way. And really, what more do you want from a wrestling event?
There's always a chance that things could change, and any predictions are just that — predictions.
That being said, we've looked at the direction the WWE has been headed in, the business side of things and recent news within the industry, and here are our predictions for the entire WrestleMania 31 match card on March 29 in Santa Clara, Calif.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
For the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Until a few days ago, all signs pointed to Reigns walking out of WrestleMania as champion. However, the new contract that Lesnar signed with WWE has turned things upside-down — it wouldn't make much sense for Lesnar to sign on for a few more years with WWE and then immediately lose the belt. Then again, it's also likely that Seth Rollins will finally try to cash in his Money in the Bank contract ... at this point, it looks like anyone but Reigns is going to win.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar (but will Seth Rollins cash in?)
Rusev vs. John Cena
For the United States Championship
The Cena vs. Rusev fight could go both ways, though it really only makes sense if Cena loses again. Yes, WrestleMania would be a great place for Rusev to finally get pinned, but it could also deflate any momentum the rising star has had. John Cena doesn't need momentum — he's the WWE's poster boy — so having him win a secondary belt over a talented newcomer just seems backward.
Prediction: Rusev
It's tough to call a lot of these matches, but that could be a good thing: WrestleMania is supposed to shake the WWE up, and matches with surprise endings and plot twists could do the company good. Storylines have been sub-par at best as of late, but WrestleMania could be a big shot in the arm for the creative team.
Even if the matches don't turn out as people would expect, that's really not as important as putting on a good show. This is WrestleMania, after all — it's time for WWE to stop holding back.
