Samsung has announced that it will be updating the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop sometime in the second quarter of 2015.
The news on Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for Samsung devices has been coming fast and furious lately. AT&T just began rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Samsung's flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 4. Later the same day, the carrier also began rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Note 3.
Now, a popular international version of the Note 3, the Note 3 Neo, is set to receive Android 5.0.1 Lollipop as well. The Neo, introduced a year ago in March 2014, is essentially a slightly smaller, somewhat less powerful version of the Galaxy Note 3. It sports a 5.5-inch display size, an 8 megapixel camera and comes with Samsung's exclusive innovative S pen stylus.
Now, Samsung France has tweeted that the Note 3 Neo will be receiving an official Android Lollipop 5.0.1 update sometime in the second quarter of 2015. That means the update could come anytime in April, May or June of this year.
While most of Samsung's flagship smartphones and phablets have begun receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop, the less popular variants such as the Galaxy S5 Sport, Galaxy S5 Mini and Galaxy Alpha are still awaiting updates. Samsung typically focuses on its more popular flagships first for OS updates before preparing and rolling them out to other smartphones in the line. With the Android 5.0.1 update to the Galaxy Note 3 Neo now announced, owners of other non-flagship Samsung devices are hoping their handset will receive an update soon as well.
