AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Released, Confirmed Rolling Out Now

The long awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for the Galaxy Note 4 on the AT&T network has begun rolling out to customers. The carrier officially announced the update today and several Tech Times readers on the network have confirmed receipt of it.

On March 23 we brought you news of a new report, which claimed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the AT&T Galaxy Note 4 was imminent. We can now confirm that the report was indeed accurate, as many Tech Times readers who are Note 4 owners on the AT&T network have confirmed receipt today of the update on the reported variant, SM-N910A.

Owners of other variants have not reported receiving the update as of yet, as AT&T is apparently staggering the release to those models as indicated in the report. It seems AT&T, which has been maligned recently by customers on its network for lagging on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for many of its devices, is taking a cautious approach to the release. The company apparently wants to be certain that the update runs smoothly on the initial variant of the flagship phablet receiving the release before making it more widely available, in order to avoid a public relations nightmare rivaling that which it has experienced for its delayed OS update releases.

The approach appears sound, as it should please both customers who receive the update as well as those who own other variants on the network and will now feel fairly confident they will receive their update shortly. That is, assuming it runs properly, and that it wasn't rushed out by the network merely to silence the growing criticism and threats of carrier switching that have plagued the network recently. AT&T is only the second major US carrier to release a Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update, with Sprint having taken the lead on March 5. AT&T is still the only major US carrier that has not released Lollipop for Samsung's popular flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, with the April 11 release of the new S6 and S6 Edge flagships imminent.

We'll continue to update you with all the latest breaking news on the Android Lollipop releases for the Note 4, AT&T, and all other carriers and devices. Have you recieved the update yet for your Galaxy Note 4? Let us know in the comments below.
