LG has begun rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its entire line of G Pads, and a U.S. rollout of the update to the G2 and G3 smartphones on another major carrier is imminent. Consumers can also now pick up the unlocked LG G2 for $189.
It's a good day for owners of LG devices around the world, as some significant progress has been made in rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to LG devices. Today, LG began pushing the update to all of the slates in its G Pad tablet lineup. The update will push first to users in South Korea, with other territories hopefully following shortly. The discontinued G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition already received its Lollipop update several months ago.
Meanwhile, significant progress has been made in finally rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the LG G2 and G3 in the U.S. T-Mobile has just updated its software release page to reflect that the update has passed through manufacturer development and is currently in the "carrier testing" phase, indicating a release on the network is not far behind.
Both Sprint and AT&T have already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the LG G3, and T-Mobile customers were anxiously awaiting some news on their update for the device, which was previously in manufacturer development. While the LG G2, however, has not seen an update from a major carrier yet, it appears from the progress status that T-Mobile may be planning on releasing the update to both devices at the same time.
Those looking for a great deal on an LG G2 were also treated to a sale today at the lowest price we've seen for an unlocked version of the phone. The device is available brand-new and factory unlocked via an established eBay seller for just $190. Free shipping is also included with your purchase.
