This year's Star Wars Celebration is set to be a doozy. Nearly every big name in Star Wars will be in attendance -- from Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to J.J. Abrams himself.
It seems safe to assume some new details or even new footage for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will make its debut at the official Star Wars convention in Anaheim California from April 16-19, but might we see another major Star Wars announcement come out of the convention? Maybe one relating to a particular video game to be published by Electronic Arts, developed by the creators of Battlefield and slated for release later this year?
If you haven't figured it out yet, we're talking about EA's Star Wars Battlefront. It's one of the most anticipated games of the year, but we have yet to see any gameplay footage of the rebooted Star Wars shooter. That might change at this year's Star Wars Celebration, as EA is now officially listed to attend the show.
Now just because EA is at the show doesn't necessarily mean the publisher will be doing a grand reveal for Star Wars Battlefront...but they probably will. There would be no other reason for EA to attend the show if the company didn't plan on showing off their first major Star Wars game since acquiring the rights more than two years ago.
A Star Wars Battlefront announcement also matches up perfectly with what developers from DICE have previously said about the game's reveal. In an interview with IGN in January, Star Wars Battlefront design director Niklas Fegraeus specifically said the studio was excited to show the world what they've been working on this spring.
April. Spring. Biggest Star Wars convention in the world. It's all falling into place. Expect to hear more about Star Wars Battlefront very soon. In the meantime, check out some gorgeous concept art for the game here.
