Disney's mysterious Tomorrowland just a got a new trailer, and it gives us our best look yet at what exactly we can expect from Oscar winner Brad Bird's latest film.
Like a bathtub scene between George Clooney and actress Britt Robertson, for instance.
No, not that kind of bathtub scene. You know, the other kind, where the bathtub actually turns into a rocket and blasts off into the night's sky. If that doesn't give you a good idea for what kind of film Tomorrowland is, I don't know what will.
Robertson's Casey character is going a little crazy, you see. She is seemingly jumping between dimensions during her everyday life. It's a little disorienting to say the least. The mystery of where exactly she is going and why leads her to seek out Clooney's Frank character, a grumpy old man whose house comes equipped with a number of surprises that include a rocket-powered bathtub.
Frank tells Casey there is a whole other world where mankind's best and brightest have traveled to in order to build the future. That world is called Tomorrowland and it's in danger. Judging from the trailer, Hugh Laurie's David Nix character has something to do Tomorrowland's plight, but Frank believes Casey has the power to save it. We'll have to see the movie to find out how.
Visually the film looks impressive. Scenes of Casey warping between realities, caught between a car ride and a windswept field, are beautifully done, as is the futuristic cityscape of Tomorrowland itself. Did we mention there are also mech battles? If you've ever wanted to see see George Clooney pilot a giant robot, Tomorrowland looks like it will deliver the goods. The film releases in the U.S. on May 22, 2015.
