It hasn't been a week since Samsung announced the Galaxy S5, and already clones of the flagship smartphone have been spotted. One such ripoff is a device designed by Goophone, and this company did a splendid job in replicating the design of the Galaxy S5. So, if you're a person who wants to buy the Galaxy S5 but is hesitant because of its sticker price, Goophone's masterpiece would likely bowl you over.
The first look at Goophone S5 and you'll realize the uncanny resemblance. From the massive 5.1 display right down to the backplate, Goophone has managed to bring its version of the Galaxy S5 to life and for a fraction of the price. It's a near carbon copy of the Galaxy S5, but everything begins to become very apparent when it comes down what is inside the device. It may be the Galaxy S5 on the outside, but on the inside, things are very different.
Goophone's Galaxy S5 knockoff might not have the same innards as the real thing, but it is still a capable handset. It comes packed with a 5-inch 1080p display, 13-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front facing camera 2GB of RAM, 2GHz MediaTek 6592 eight-core processor, 32GB of memory and 2800 mAh battery. In addition, it comes with Android 4.2 Jellybean, and 3G connectivity.
The hardware specifications are decent, and the hardware price of $300 could entice many users who are unable to purchase a Galaxy S5 due to pricing and availability in their regions.
Despite the specifications being quite impressive for a $300 phone, the Goophone S5 does not come with a heart rate monitor and fingerprint reader that can be found in the Samsung Galaxy S5. This is not surprising, as with all clone devices, something has to give to make them cheap and affordable.
Furthermore, the Goophone S5 is not yet available for purchase, nor has it entered production or have a solid release date set. But already the company has come up with specifications and a render of what the handset might look like in its final design.
At the end of the day, while the Goophone S5 is a rip off of the Samsung Galaxy S5, it seems to be a solid device when compared to other offerings from the company.
Goophone even goes as far to give us an example of what a Windows based smartwatch might look like with its own device running Android at the core.
