If you saw Jared Leto as a presenter just a few days ago at the 2015 Academy Awards, you probably noticed that he was still sporting long hair and a full, bushy beard.
But Leto is set to star as the Joker in DC/Warner Bros.' upcoming Suicide Squad flick, which goes before cameras soon. And unless Warners is looking to really wildly reinterpret the character, Leto will require shorter locks for the role.
Also, when was the last time you saw a drawing or a photo of the Joker with a beard?
Leto knows it too, because it looks like he has taken the plunge and finally cut it all off to prepare to become the Joker. A series of tweets from Leto and director David Ayer teased the momentous shearing until finally revealing a clean-shaven, short-haired Leto to the world.
It started with a cheeky, if vague, tease from Ayer.
Fans had no idea what that "something" was, but Leto gave a big hint with his first tweet on the matter.
A few short hours later, Leto spilled the beans with this.
This morning, Ayer returned to tease fans once again with this photo of scissors about to slice into Leto's ponytail, along with a rhetorical question that we can only assume was meant to torture fans.
In case there was any doubt that they would, Ayer sent out one last photo to prove that they did.
Now all that's left is to dye it a bright shade of green.
