Kanye West showed his softer side as he sent out separate tweets to Beck and Bruno Mars, expressing his sincere apologies. He even sent a follow-up tweet to Bruno Mars and proposed a possible collaboration on a song that he co-produced with 88 Keys and Sean Combs.
Kanye's apology tweet to Beck relates back to that incident at the recently concluded Grammys when the Morning Phase singer won Album of the Year. In a post-Grammy interview, Kanye slammed Beck and suggested that he should have given the award to Beyoncé.
"I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us," said Kanye in the interview. "We ain't gonna play with them no more. Flawless, Beyoncé video and Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé and at this point, we tired of it. Because what happens is when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you're disrespectful to inspiration."
However, Kanye realized the error and tweeted an apology to Beck.
"I would like to publicly apologize to Beck, I'm sorry Beck," tweeted Kanye.
The second apology tweet refers to an incident in 2013 when he commented on Bruno Mars as being "overrated" for winning all the awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. "I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars, I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist," said Kanye in Twitter.
Kanye also sent a follow-up tweet to Mars.
"I also would love for Bruno to sing this hook on this song 88 Keys / Puff and I produced...I even asked Tyler to shoot the vid," tweeted Kanye.
It remains to be seen whether Mars accepts Kanye's offer. However, the idea may not be impossible after all, judging from a similar incident in the past that involved Taylor Swift. In 2009 at the VMAs, Kanye went storming on stage and stole the microphone away from Taylor Swift while she was doing her Best Female Video acceptance speech. Kanye told everyone that Beyoncé should have won. Of course, he eventually apologized. Reports say that Kanye made an announcement that he is recording music together with Swift.
