Mid-range LG L Series smartphones pack quite a punch

LG launched several new smartphones in its L Series lineup of mid-low-end smartphones. The L90 and L70 have solid mid-range specifications, while the L40 features more basic specifications.

The LG L90 is powered by a quad-core processor, running at 1.2 GHz. The L90 is the only smartphone in the L Series that features a quad-core processor, so it should be quite fast and efficient in terms of power use. The L90 contains 1 GB of RAM as well. Although the L90 only comes with 8 GB of storage out of the box, you can expand it via a micro SD card up to 32 GB.

In terms of display, the L90 may not be the most impressive thing you'll ever see, but it does have a 4.7-inch display. The resolution is a measly 960 x 540 pixels, but it is still decent for a mid-range device. At this point, the L90 is also one of the few Android smartphones with a display under 5 inches, which could appeal to some users. In addition, the LG L90 comes with a decent 8-megapixel back camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The L90 has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 2540 mAh battery, too.

Of course, the big story with the L90 and all the others in the L Series is Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which comes preinstalled on all three devices.

Next up in the new L Series is the LG L70, a 4.5-inch smartphone with an 800 x 400 resolution display. This particular handset is powered by a dual-core processor, running at 1.2 GHz. Depending on what region in which the smartphone is sold, it will either have an 8-megapixel or 5-megapixel back camera. Regardless of region, it will feature a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

The LG L70 comes with 1 GB of RAM and just 4 GB of storage, but that amount is expandable up to 32 GB via micro SD card. In terms of connectivity, the L70 has Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The L70 contains a 2100mAh battery, which should keep things going for a while.

Last in the lineup comes the LG L40, a low-end smartphone with the most basic specifications of the three handsets. The L40 features a 3.5-inch display with a super low resolution of just 480 x 320 pixels. The L40 is powered by a dual-core processor, running at 1.2 GHz. It also comes with 512 MB of RAM, so it certainly won't be a lightening fast device by any means.

The L40 has a 3-megapixel camera in the back and contains just 4 GB of internal storage, which can expand up to 32 GB via micro SD. It also comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1700 mAh or 1540 mAh battery, depending on the market.

The LG LSeries smartphones will all be available for mid-to-low-end prices when they arrive in stores. LG will probably announce a release date, price and market list before the end of the month.
