Ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the LG G Pro 2 has been leaked in white, posing for the camera. The device is the successor to the LG Optimus G Pro and could go on sale before the end of 2014.
The leaked photos showcased a smartphone dressed in white and with similar designs to the LG G2 due to the large screen and the same placement of the volume rocker on the back. When it comes to details of the hardware, information is quite scarce. However, rumors suggests the LG G Pro 2 will rock a 6-inch display with full 1080p high definition display, according to DC Inside (requires translation). Under the hood, the handset is expected to come loaded with a quad core processor and support for LTE-Advance.
Additionally, the device could also come with 3GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera with a single LED flash. No word on whether or not LG will follow Apple and add a fingerprint scanner to the device. So far, the only company do such a thing, other than Apple, is HTC.
On the software side of things, expect the LG G Pro 2 to launch with Android 4.3 Jellybean. It is not yet sure if KitKat will make an appearance on the handset officially at this time.
Nothing else regarding the handset's specification is known, but if LG does launch the handset at MWC this year, then we should have an idea of what to expect.
The rumors of a 6-inch display, however, is not farfetched, since every major smartphone maker is looking to make devices with bigger screens to make an impact on the market this year. Furthermore, smartphones with big displays are becoming popular as users grow weary of devices with smaller screens.
LG did confirm that the G Pro 2 will be announced next month, which could be around the same time the MWC will be held. It would be the perfect place for LG to showcase to the world what the company has been working on. Also, MWC could offer the buzz LG needs for the device to go up against the yet to be announced Samsung Galaxy S5.
