Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare seemed to be missing the Gun Game mode compared to the previous games. Sledgehammer Games, the developer, promised to bring the new multiplayer option to fans soon.
Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer co-founder, teased the release of the Gun Game mode in Advanced Warfare in a tweet that also showed a screenshot of the loading screen of a Gun Game match.
"Slow news day. If you were at the studio you could play some #AdvancedWarfare with us," said Condrey.
The Gun Game mode was first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops. It got its inspiration from the Counter-Strike mode. It allows six players in the so-called "free-for-all battle" although they are not given the option to choose their load-out. All of the players begin the game having their pistols.
There are a total of 20 listed weapons in the game. These include a crossbow, RPG, shotguns and assault rifles. Each time that a player gets a kill, his weapon will be replaced with another weapon. The player who gets to kill using each of the 20 weapons wins the game. However, the player's progress will decrease if he uses a knife against his rival or he commits suicide.
The player will then be demoted to the previous weapon. The Gun Game mode made a reappearance in Ghosts, Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare, where it had different sets of weapons. Prior to the launch of Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer had announced that they would include Gun Game. However, they seemed to have lacked enough time to finish the game before the launch.
Apart from hinting the game on Twitter, Condrey also gave an update on the new Exo Zombies mode, which will have the pause option as an added feature. Exo Zombies was released on Jan. 27 as part of the Havoc DLC. The latter is said to include four new multiplayer maps, weapons and skins. Other DLC packs in the pipeline include Ascendance, Supremacy and Reckoning.
"Pause feature in progress," confirmed Condrey. "Complicated implementation needed for reasons I won't bore you with, but it's coming." A recent tweet from Sledgehammer Games confirms that Gun Game is indeed coming and it will be in the next couple of days. The message reads: "COMING THIS WEEKEND to @CallofDuty #Advanced Warfare: #AWGearDrops, #OneShotMoshPit, #2XPGunGame."
