Massive rumors have centered around Apple looking to transform its offerings to the public as it has been reported that it is gearing up to launch the foldable iPhone next year.

Should such rumors be accurate, the launch of the foldable iPhone will mark its first foray into the world of foldable smartphones. In the past years, it has been rumored that Apple is working on its own foldable, which will feature a book-style fold rather than a clamshell style.

Rumors have also claimed that the foldable will be based on another rumored model, the iPhone 17 Air, which is said to be the thinnest iPhone that the company will release in its history.

Apple Rumored to Launch Foldable Next Year

A new report from analyst Mark Gurman (via Bloomberg) follows up on a previous rumor that claimed that Apple is preparing for its foldable iPhone's launch next year.

The report from the analyst talks about how Apple's first foldable device will feature the style of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold style instead the Galaxy Z Flip, which is more of a clamshell-type device. The book-style foldable smartphones offer a wider screen for users, which is like combining two smartphones that are vertically placed next to each other into one.

Essentially, this will also mark the largest smartphone from Apple since its introduction of the Plus and Pro Max, making it closer to an iPad mini in size despite still being smaller. There are no specific details yet regarding the Apple foldable smartphone, but it has been rumored that it will either be part of the iPhone 18 lineup or a part of its release.

Based on speculations from the analyst, the foldable iPhone is expected to sell starting at $2,000, also making it the most expensive Apple smartphone.

Foldable iPhone to Have the iPhone 17 Air's Tech?

It has also been rumored that the foldable iPhone will take after the rumored iPhone 17 Air that may be debuting by falls of this year. This model is said to be the thinnest iPhone the company will release as it will only have a thickness of 5.5 mm.

The device itself will reportedly have a dedicated display circuit that will help it conserve battery, the Apple-made 5G chip, which is also known as the C-series, and other tweaks to achieve the ultra-thin sizing.
