When the iOS 18 6th public beta made its way to select beta testers, Apple knew the upcoming operating system needed a major overhaul.

Launched on Aug. 29, the iOS 18 beta is now headed to improvement before the most awaited official release on Sept. 9, during the "Glowtime" tech event.

For beta testers and developers, you can now explore soon-to-release features, including lock screen customizations and the ability to search your call history in the phone app. These new functionalities enhance the user experience, making managing and navigating iPhone features easier.

New Search Bar Feature in iOS 18 Call History

Your Phone App Has 'Easy Way' To Search Through Your Call History on iOS 18 Beta: How?
(Photo : Nick Fewings from Unsplash) With iOS 18's sixth public beta, Apple is allowing early testers to use the early features. The new search bar is one hidden upgrade, but how does it work?

Before the iOS 18 update, the Phone app's Recents tab displayed a continuous list of incoming and outgoing calls. Users who frequently made calls had to scroll through long lists to find specific calls. With iOS 18, Apple has simplified this process by introducing a convenient search bar within the Recents tab.

The new search feature allows users to quickly locate contacts, phone numbers, or specific dates without endless scrolling. This upgrade provides a more efficient way to manage and access your call history, making iPhone calls easier to handle, especially for users with extensive call logs.

How to Use the Call Search Function in iOS 18

According to CNET, it's easy to utilize this beta function. You can start by heading on the Phone app and then clicking the Recents tab. It should be seen at the bottom of the screen.

From here, hover over the top screen, and you will see the search bar. Search the call history based on dates, names, and phone numbers.

You can see the compilation of all calls associated with a particular contact, such as your mom. Well, it also works for months. For example, try typing July.

A Word of Warning For iOS 18 Beta Testers

Since this is a beta version, don't expect it to be smooth sailing. It's intended to make room for improvements; that's why glitches and bugs are commonplace. You will also notice that some features might not work as intended.

During the testing phase, Apple frequently releases updates to fix such issues before the official public release.

For those considering installing the beta version of iOS 18, it's best to avoid doing so on your primary device. Beta versions can impact battery life and may contain other performance-related bugs.

We recommend using an older or secondary iPhone if you're curious to explore the new features without affecting the functionality of your primary phone. You can install iOS 18 on your older iPhone to test it out while keeping your newer device bug-free.

New action button will also come to iOS 18. This feature will replace the traditional Ring/silent switch on iPhone 16.
