Apple's highly anticipated AI features, unveiled at the WWDC, may not be available when the iPhone 16 launches in September.

According to Bloomberg's report earlier, the tech giant plans to release these features as part of iOS 18.1, scheduled for an October release. This means that Apple Intelligence will be missing in action by the time the newest iOS version drops.

Initially, Apple Intelligence is expected to arrive by the iOS 18 drops. However, it might take quite some time before we use its features on the next iOS version.

Apple's decision to delay the full integration of AI capabilities is likely due to the complexity of the technology and the company's stringent quality standards. By opting for a phased approach, Apple aims to refine its AI offerings before a wider release.

While the iPhone 16 might not ship with all the promised AI features, users can expect some AI enhancements to arrive with the initial iOS 18 release. Apple's in-house updating tool, Presto, could potentially deliver these updates to existing devices.

Developer Access to AI Tools

To expedite the development and refinement of its AI features, Apple plans to release developer betas for iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 as early as this week. This early access will allow developers to test Apple's AI tools and identify potential issues before the public launch.

A Gradual AI Integration

It's important to note that not all the AI features showcased at WWDC will be available with iOS 18.1. Some advanced capabilities, such as a more contextually aware Siri, may not arrive until the spring of 2025, per The Verge.

Apple's strategic approach to AI integration highlights the company's commitment to delivering polished and reliable software experiences. Since people want a more polished set of AI features by the time it arrives, we assume that it will take a longer time to release.

While users may experience some initial wait times, the eventual rollout of these features promises to significantly enhance the iPhone and iPad ecosystem.

Outside Apple Intelligence, the Cupertino giant is facing another antitrust investigation following Spain's latest move. The National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC), the country's watchdog has started probing the company over its App Store practices.

According to the agency, Apple is allegedly promoting unfair trading conditions for developers through the App Store apps. If Apple is guilty of this, it will face hefty fines on top of other penalties imposed on Europe.
