GameSpot recently had the chance to interview Kazuhisa Wada, one of the creative leads in the Persona series, and he was asked of one of the most bugging questions regarding the franchise now. Wada did not confirm or deny Persona 1 and 2's remake according to GameSpot.

However, what Wada highlighted is that he is on board with a possible remake of its first game and its sequel. The creative lead also claimed that this development is "not" on his schedule for the time being.

Persona fans have recently been given Persona 3 Reload earlier this February, a remastered version of its renowned release from 2006. This new rumor also goes alongside another project from Atlus known as Persona 6, best known to be a successor to its franchise.

Persona 1 and 2's Remake Rumors: Is it Coming Soon?

There have been numerous rumors about Persona 1 and 2's remake, but earlier reports claimed that it would not be the only game that is planned to make its return. Leakers also claimed that Atlus is planning for a remastered version of Persona 4 coming soon.

All of Atlus' Persona remaster reports are mere speculations, but Wada's recent statement highlights a 50/50 chance of the first and second game's future availability.

Atlus and SEGA's Persona Franchise

Japan's Persona, a.k.a. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for the US and other Western regions, is among the most popular RPG franchises in the world, with Atlus and SEGA nearing its 20th anniversary since its first release. The game franchise achieved massive milestones and accolades over the years, including an achievement in 2022 where the remastered Persona 5 Royal sold over a million copies.

Despite its main character being a silent hero of the story, the game is known for its blaring gameplay which centers on high schoolers fighting for the greater good using their Personas. While the sequel remains unavailable, players are given a mobile spinoff on iOS and Android called Persona 5: Phantom X from Black Wings Game Studio.

Earlier this year, the latest drop from Atlus on the franchise shared another remastered game for modern gaming platforms with Persona 3 Reload.

While the franchise did not miss an entry this year, gamers are expecting more from Atlus for the future, in the form of Persona 1 and 2's remakes, something which Wada is onboard in doing so, but is not yet an official project from developers.
