Atlus Persona 6 Set to Be More Open World, Social Link Upgrades

ComicBook Gaming reported a new rumor from a Reset Era user which is highly regarded for their claims and scoops shared in the gaming industry, discussing the next-in-line game from Atlus, Persona 6. It was highlighted by the leaker that the sequel game would be "more" open world, but would not entirely be, regarding this to be a "semi-open world" title.

It would also be a "more modern" take on the game but will still capture the popular experience that makes it a Persona game, with the story still revolving in high school.

However, it was not revealed by the leaker if there would be more Personas to be introduced as the last title from the franchise had a total of 225 Personas including the DLCs and party members.

It was also added by the leaker that the new Persona 6 would improve more on the social links, with the team making it "more fluid" for this sequel.

What to Expect from the Upcoming Persona 6?

The leaker regarded the more open world and improvements on the social links on this new title, offering a more modern touch to it, unlike the earlier releases. The report said that Persona 6 would still stick to its renowned RPG experiences, with the characters remaining in high school and interacting with a broader environment and people.

Atlus and the Persona Franchise

Three years ago, the renowned franchise from Atlus and SEGA celebrated its 25th anniversary, with the first game seeing its release in 1996, then called Revelations: Persona. It is best known for being a spinoff based on Shin Megami Tensei If... which was released in 1994, and in fact, the game was previously known as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona.

Now, the franchise is already in its 28th year, and the premise of the game still centers on high school students seeing themselves in bizarre conspiracies and stories, able to summon Personas to ward off the threats they face. The latest from the franchise was Persona 5, a game released in 2016 initially as a PlayStation exclusive, followed by the 2019 Royal expansion.

After almost three decades in the gaming industry with six games in tow, Atlus and SEGA are now rumored to be working on a sequel that will expand more of the franchise for gamers. Persona 6 remains a rumor as neither company has not yet confirmed its development and existence, but the latest information already dictates a more ambitious experience for this upcoming title.
