A new report shared that Meta and Spotify are now working on a new Instagram integration that will share a user's real-time listening activity in the app's Notes. It would be a different experience than the current integration available on Instagram where users could easily share their current playing songs on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and other streaming apps.

This renowned feature of Instagram was first thought to be a Twitter rival that shares instant updates in short-form but would expire in 24 hours.

A user on Threads shared a new feature that he stumbled upon on Spotify, now offering a way to integrate one's current playing activity to Instagram Notes and have it available on their profiles any time. While there are no formal announcements yet by Spotify, it was revealed by 9to5Mac that it is now working with Meta to bring this feature in the future.

Instead of the previous integration method where users need to tap on the Share feature on Spotify and automatically be transported to Instagram Stories, this would be a more direct experience.

Users no longer need to share each song they are listening to from Spotify to Instagram if they want to showcase their current playing music on the streaming app.

Share Real-Time Spotify Listening Activity on IG Notes

This feature, which only a few users were allowed to access, will automatically share their real-time Spotify listening activity to Instagram Notes. It would also be a continuous experience that would change whenever the song ends, when skipping to other titles, or when choosing one from the Search, Playlists, or feeds.

In the screenshot, users may choose to opt out of sharing their listening activity from Spotify to Instagram Notes whenever they want to.

Renowned Spotify Integrations Available For Users

Spotify remains the top music streaming platform in the world in terms of userbase and revenue, but the company has since worked with other entities in tech to expand more of its services available. It is known for previously working with Google and introduced a way for users to wake up to their favorite songs from their Spotify library via the Google Clock app.

It is known that on Spotify's platform alone, there is a form of social networking available where users may follow friends or family to access their playlists, view their current playing songs, and more. However, Spotify has also expanded on its social experiences with its partnership with Tinder in 2021 where it introduced "Music Mode" which displays a profile's music taste and could be an essential factor before swiping.

While Spotify's platform alone can deliver everything that a user needs for music streaming, having it available to other apps can also help in expanding more experiences. This new work with Meta will help deliver Spotify to Instagram, integrating a way to share a user's real-time listening activity on the Notes feature and skip the need to share it via Stories one by one.
