With the recent discovery of a Spotify feature on the platform, Google is expanding on the Gemini extensions to deliver new user experiences.
The recent spotting of a Spotify extension on Gemini signals an integration of the music streaming platform to the AI chatbot. This is similar to the previous YouTube Music rollout that appeared last month for all to experience.
The Spotify extension on Gemini is hidden in its code for now and is not yet available, but this recent spotting suggests that the feature will come soon.
Google Gemini's Spotify Extension Spotted
A new spot on the latest Google app for Android update by Android Authority revealed that the company has hidden a Spotify extension that will soon deliver an AI-powered music streaming experience.
The extension was hidden under the codename "Robin," which is a reference to Gemini, said the report, and it came alongside hints of Spotify account sign-ins and music-playing features.
The Google app's v15.22.29.29 update hid these features for now, and it remains unknown when the feature will be available for users. According to 9to5Google, the Google app's v15.22.28.29 also has this code.
It was regarded as similar to the previous integration of YouTube Music on Gemini as an extension, which allowed users to find music, create AI-generated playlists, and more through the chatbot.
AI Chatbot to Deliver Music Streaming
AI chatbots delivering a different kind of music streaming is no longer new, especially as Spotify has also been discovered to be testing AI-generated playlists on its app for quite some time now.
With Google's Gemini, this Spotify extension would connect the experience to the multimodal model and let the AI do its thing to deliver an enhanced experience for music streaming in the future, but there is no word yet regarding its release.
Google Gemini AI Features
It is known that when Google launched the Gemini, it went all in with the AI chatbot to deliver a multimodal experience, but it was not a successful launch for the company.
However, the company previously promised to fix the initial issues seen with the chatbot, and it also focused on bringing back several of Google Assistant's revered AI features.
Apart from asking Gemini to answer questions through text, images, and more, it can also be used to generate different kinds of content that it could deliver.
That being said, its appearance on Google apps has also been a welcome addition, including the upcoming Gmail integration of the chatbot that could scan one's inbox, help generate replies, and do a lot more for the user.
Google is now focusing on massive app integrations for Gemini that will take advantage of the chatbot's AI features to deliver massive user experiences and better connect them to apps.
This new Gemini Spotify extension will empower both user experiences, giving chatbot users the chance to access the music streaming app through the power of AI.
