The recent Made by Google keynote event unveiled a lot about its latest Pixel 9 series, but the spotlight is on its latest foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold which offers many new features to enjoy. It is also a significant upgrade compared to last year's Pixel Fold release, its first foldable which did not fare well in the market and faced massive criticisms from its users.

Google did not skip out on the upgrades for its latest foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which it unveiled earlier on its recent showcase, touting one of the most impressive foldable available in the market for pre-order now.

First off, the foldable features a new design, offering a flat-edged body with curved edges, unlike its predecessor's curvy one. Moreover, it features a full-flat folding screen thanks to its multi-alloy steel and an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy cover.

It touts the power to tap into onboard AI with Google's Gemini, made possibly by the Tensor G4 chipset, paired with the Titan M2 security coprocessor.

When unfolded, its screen features a 2076 x 2152 OLED display at 373 PPI, with 1600 nits HDR and 2700 nits peak brightness. Google also promises a 24-hour battery life and 72 hours running time with Extreme Battery Saver, but it only features a 4,650mAh cell compared to Pixel Fold's 4,821mAh.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Upgrades the Pixel Fold Experience

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is larger overall but is made thinner by Google. It now features a 6.3-inch external screen, with its internal folding display offering an 8-inch Super Actua Flex LTPO display.

Google's revamp of its rear camera layout features the 48MP Quad PD wide camera, 10.5MP Dual PD Ultrawide camera, and 10.8MP Dual PD Telephoto lens, while two front cameras offering a 10MP Dual PD lens are available on the internal and external display.

The foldable also has an IPX9 water resistance, fingerprint-resistant coating, and 7 years of OS upgrades. It is now available for pre-order on the Google Store at a starting price of $1,799, to be available by September 4.

Google's Pixel Fold and its Development

Since Google introduced the Pixel Fold to the world, many users were awaiting a revamp from the company so many considered this release as a flop. Initially dubbed as the 'Pixel Fold 2' as speculators thought it would follow the namesake, it was believed to face a delay from the company because of the Tensor G4 processor.

However, that was not the case with the recent Made By Google event which introduced the Pixel 9 lineup along with the foldable.

After Google first teased its Pixel 9 series, it confirmed that it has rebranded its book-style folding smartphone to be under the series, called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Details were scarce before the event, but among the things confirmed was its redesign to a flat-edged body which lets go of Pixel's curvy origins. Now, Google unveils the new and improved foldable known as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, touting the power of AI via Gemini, with a Super Actua screen, 16GB RAM, the Tensor G4, and more, coming this September 4.
