This glitch was reportedly able to help players get an advantage in the game, and this led to a player breaking the top record for the title, taking away its challenge.
Players who were able to play the game and were unaware of the glitch argued against it, claiming that the result of this happening has affected gameplay.

Several users on Reddit and other forums have taken their frustrations to these platforms, airing out Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition's recent glitch which caused them to the game. This took place in last week's World Championships mode which allows gamers to compete with other players and set-top records in the competition.
It was revealed by Metroid Mike 64 via X that the exploit was found in the game "Barrel Roll," a challenge in the game that offers the Donkey Kong NES Level 1.
The user claimed that the competition saw the top-ranked player using a glitch centering on "invisible ladders" that allowed them to clear the game fast.
Nintendo World Championships Players Feel 'Cheated' with Glitch
The user who won first place recorded 00:15:68 seconds to complete the game, with other players feeling "cheated" because of the glitch. Using the invisible ladder would allow users to clear the game faster, as they do not have to rush to the opposite side to climb to the top.
Despite these complaints, Nintendo has not yet addressed the glitch or worked on a fix that would rid of this exploit in the game.

Retro gaming has been a significant experience for gaming platforms and consoles for several years now, with Nintendo among those companies that massively expanded this experience. Its iconic previous generation consoles like the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Nintendo 64 games were made available to NSO subscribers.
