Kiryu and the entire Japanese underworld were recently introduced to the world by Amazon Prime Video's latest trailer drop for its upcoming series adaptation known as Like a Dragon: Yakuza. This new gritty, action-adventure drama will deliver a unique look into the franchise, but this time, fans and gamers need not control them.

While having an almost similar name to its 2020 game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, this new live-action series adaptation will proceed with a different story from the game.

That being said, Like a Dragon's series will heavily focus on Kazuma Kiryu's story, best known as the main protagonist across the franchise.

Like a Dragon is Coming to Amazon Prime Video

This upcoming show would be Amazon Prime Video's next video game adaptation into a live-action series, following last April's premiere of Bethesda's Fallout. Additionally, Like a Dragon would be the next spin-off series of SEGA following the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise's movies and the Knuckles show in Paramount+.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza is premiering this October 24 on Amazon Prime Video with its first three episodes, then following a weekly drop.

The Yakuza Video Game Series

Ryu Ga Gotoku's iconic gaming franchise from the mid-2000s has seen a stellar release since almost 20 years ago with a regular availability of its titles,, offering the renowned action-adventure role-playing game to the world. The 2015 release of Yakuza 0 gave the world its much-awaited prequel to the series, offering a glimpse into Japan's underworld.

The most recent release from the series was the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name which was arenowned PlayStation 5 game. It brought the spin-off to the franchise which still focused on the title's main protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, set in Osaka, and coincided with Yakuza: Like a Dragon's events.

It was confirmed towards the end of the year that Ryu Ga Gotoku's famed franchise is following up the series with a new game that was released in January, introducing Infinite Wealth to the world.

However, that was apparently not yet the biggest offer of the studio as it was in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, with Like a Dragon: Yakuza live-action trailer now giving us the feels for the upcoming show.
