One of the later titles of Square Enix's famed franchise, Final Fantasy XIV, is now seeing a massive teaser from its director regarding a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version coming in the future. The gaming industry's latest talks now focus on the rumors behind game developments for the upcoming Switch successor, with different companies like SEGA and more.
Apart from the games coming from Nintendo, other renowned developers and top franchises are also seeing rumors about the upcoming new console.
Final Fantasy XIV Nintendo Switch 2 Version Coming?
In a new interview posted by Easy Allies with FFXIV director Naoki Yoshida, a new teaser was made regarding a previous game in the franchise, Final Fantasy XIV, which is soon getting a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Yoshida said it is his "dream" to have Final Fantasy XIV available on any device a gamer wants it to be, and this includes the recent confirmation that the game is coming to Xbox.
He regarded that he wished the same for Nintendo, but his talks with Microsoft and Xbox's head, Phil Spencer, had already taken a long time to happen.
That being said, this Nintendo Switch 2 arrival, according to ComicBook Gaming, may also take a long time, and the next-gen console may not arrive immediately.
Nintendo Switch and the Final Fantasy Franchise
For now, gamers have several Final Fantasy titles from Square Enix to download and play on the Nintendo Switch, ranging from retro titles to slightly more modern ones.
The Final Fantasy I to X is already available on Nintendo Switch's eShop, with X-2 also available as part of a bundle for the 10th game. There are also other FF titles available to purchase here.
The Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2
There are already massive reports, rumors, and speculations behind the next-generation Nintendo Switch, dubbed Switch 2, which will continue the legacy of the first hybrid console's experiences. Last year, there were a plethora of new Switch 2 rumors centered on its capabilities, with one claiming that it would be as powerful as the PS5 and Final Fantasy VII's remake being one of its potential titles.
Wild claims and beliefs were also present online, but different companies were also involved in furthering the speculations, with Activision Blizzard claiming that the "next-generation Switch" is coming soon.
Initially, it was rumored that Nintendo would bring the Switch 2 this 2024, but others are negating this information saying that it is coming by 2025.
SEGA is among the prominent game-developing companies that will develop the initial games for the Switch 2 once it releases, but Square Enix's name has been popping up from time to time. Instead of the speculated FFVIIRemake's arrival on the Switch 2, Final Fantasy XIV is also among those planned to be ported to the new console, and this time, the director is doing the teasing.
