Yahoo Mail Comes With AI-Genered Email Summaries For Easier Inbox, Task Management

The AI-powered summaries is similar to what Gmail launched recently.

Yahoo Mail has rolled out new AI capabilities for its desktop version to streamline email and task management.

The most noticeable feature is the AI-generated summaries of emails, which provide concise bullet-point lists highlighting proposed tasks and actions. You can see these summaries under the new Priority Inbox tab. From the word itself, it prioritizes the most important emails on your storage.

At first glance, you could instantly have an idea where it's inspired from: Gmail's own AI summaries. However, the Yahoo version leans towards the desktop app while Gmail targets mobile app users.

It is also important to note that you can access the Yahoo version for free while the Gmail version hides behind a paywall.

In addition to AI-powered summaries, Yahoo Mail now includes quick action buttons within the inbox. These buttons allow users to swiftly add events to their calendars, check-in for flights, and track packages directly from their email. Moreover, the update aims to enhance productivity by reducing the steps needed to manage tasks associated with emails.

Persistent Starred View Panel

According to The Verge, Yahoo Mail has also introduced a new persistent "starred view" panel. This panel enables users to quickly access the most important tasks and emails they wish to revisit.

By keeping important emails easily accessible, users can stay organized and efficient without having to search through their inbox.

Integration with Other Email Accounts

Another game-changing update is the ability to link Yahoo Mail with other email accounts, including Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and AOL. This integration allows users to send and receive emails from multiple accounts within Yahoo Mail, offering a centralized platform for managing all their email communications.

Who Can Use Yahoo's AI Features First?

These new features are available to new users in the US and will roll out to existing US users on an opt-in basis starting today. Yahoo Mail plans to extend these features to its mobile app in the near future, providing a consistent experience across devices.

Yahoo is No Stranger to AI Enhancements

It's noteworthy to write that Yahoo Mail is not new anymore into the AI scene. Last summer, the platform introduced several generative AI capabilities. These included an improved search mode, the Shopping Save feature to help users find forgotten gift cards and discount codes, and a writing assistant to help craft emails with the appropriate tone.

"People are craving better ways to streamline the daily activities that often bog us down like managing multiple email accounts, sorting out their schedules, reading through long messages, and tracking orders. The new features we're launching are aimed at making life that much easier for anyone that relies on email," Yahoo Mail's VP of Product Kyle Miller said.

Yahoo Mail's latest updates, featuring AI-generated summaries, quick action buttons, a persistent starred view panel, and integration with other email accounts, are designed to enhance user productivity and simplify email management.

It is expected that more email firms will follow in the footsteps of Gmail and Yahoo in email and task management. The new features provide users with tools to manage their emails and tasks more efficiently.
