Most portable computers now bring limited display, but Spacetop G1 takes it to another level as it features an augmented reality (AR) laptop that effectively makes its display borderless, now available for pre-order. The Spacetop AR laptop features a keyboard with a trackpad, similar to most laptops, but it does not have a display, as its screen is wearable via a pair of AR glasses.
Apart from being given a virtually limitless display (with a maximum of 100 inches), it also offers a sense of privacy as the display is only available within the AR glasses that come with it.
Spacetop G1 AR Laptop Now Available for Preorder
Sightful's Spacetop G1 AR laptop which was unveiled last year is now available for users to preorder, offering a significant portable experience available on a wide display, anywhere. This sub-12-inch AR laptop only has the keyboard, trackpad, and AR glasses as its hardware, one that does not have a flip-up screen like the traditional ones, as it relies on augmented reality to deliver the experience.
In this preorder program, Sightful is offering a $200 discount for everyone who will reserve the AR laptop which they will get after putting in a $100 refundable deposit.
The Spacetop G1 will sell starting at $1,900, but for preorder buyers, it would only be $1,700 come its shipping period which will take place this October 2024 within the US.
Spacetop G1 is Like Vision Pro, But a Laptop
The Spacetop G1 is similar to the Vision Pro, but it is connected to its keyboard and trackpad as it is an AR laptop that requires peripherals-unlike Apple's XR headset which relies on hand gestures and controls.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QCS8550 KRYO CPU, with Adreno 740 GPU, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB storage, 60W battery with 8-hour usage, and 1080p OLED Display panels with 90Hz refresh rate for its glasses.
Augmented Reality Devices
Augmented reality and its more advanced counterpart, XR, a.k.a. mixed-reality, has since taken over the technology world, but its proprietor is none other than Apple's Vision Pro which saw massive rumors before. Since February, the Vision Pro shared its capabilities and features for users that offer entertainment and work capabilities that expand more of the display, banking on its spatial computing features.
Meta went ahead of Apple after its Vision Pro announcement, unveiling the Quest 3 XR headset which delivered the mixed-reality experiences for users by September last year.
Both devices bring significant features for users that mix augmented and virtual reality making it possible to access productivity apps and games while blending the real world from outside the lens.
Last CES 2024, a company called TECNO unveiled the Pocket GO which offered an AR gaming console that brings a massive display without the bulk, redefining portable gaming.
Spacetop is among the companies that center on AR and mixed reality for its features, with the G1 AR laptop featuring a portable workspace that is massive and private thanks to its AR glasses, now available for preorder.
