Brazilian Doctor Used Apple Vision Pro for Shoulder Arthroscopy Surgery Assistance

Vision Pro is a tool used by doctors for procedures.

A Brazilian doctor used a special tool for his recent shoulder arthroscopy surgery. This high-tech device, Apple's Vision Pro, was not made for medicine but for entertainment and work purposes.

While Vision Pro has massive applications in various industries, medicine has been one of those, and previous surgeons have also demonstrated its use while performing procedures.

Brazilian Doctor Used Apple Vision Pro for Shoulder Surgery

Brazilian surgeon Bruno Gobbato shared a video about using the Apple Vision Pro during a previous surgery he had done, particularly a shoulder arthroscopy procedure.

Gobbato was treating a patient with a rotator cuff tear, an injury caused by wear and tear of the tendon tissue, and the Vision Pro helped him view various information, including a live feed from the monitor.

During the shoulder arthroscopy procedure, a camera was inserted into the patient's shoulder, and Gobbato told MacMagazine that the live feed was then streamed to the Apple wearable.

Doing so helped improve the procedure altogether, as the screen is larger, which he regarded to be "the size of a movie screen with high resolution," and he praised the Vision Pro's dynamic cameras, which helped improve the lighting in the operating room that tends to have dark spots.

Heads Up: Vision Pro Helps Doctor See It Altogether

The Vision Pro captured the live feed inside the shoulder and gave Dr. Gobbato access to the Notes app, which he was seen browsing while doing the procedure.

This gave him access to the 3D models and more patient information amidst the surgery, which would have been difficult to access while doing so.

Additionally, he accessed X-ray images of the person's shoulder, all available in the floating display, which he controls using gestures that do not require any other peripherals.

Apple Vision Pro's Massive Applications

Apple touted the Vision Pro for various and massive applications, and while it is primarily meant for entertainment, gaming, and work, there are many more fields where it could be used.

However, there had been a dangerous trend before where Vision Pro was applied in risky scenarios, such as driving a self-driving Tesla car, using it at crosswalks, and more.

There was also one time when a pilot showed off the use of the Vision Pro while flying an airplane, one that sparked a significant backlash against the dangerous deed.

It was later clarified that he was only a passenger on the small chartered aircraft despite sitting in the pilot's seat, with these "skits" denounced by the world for promoting misuse of the wearable.

Doctors have previously demonstrated how the Vision Pro can serve as a tool to help in the medical field, with its advanced and helpful features that may be applied to various fields of medicine.

In Brazil, it was used again for surgery, which helped Dr. Gobbato see the screen better, look up information alongside it, and successfully perform the procedure for the patient.
